We all have a beauty-obsessed babe in our life. She’s always rambling on about glass skin, strong, healthy hair and nails, exfoliating, even skin tones, blah blah blah 🙂 . What do you get for the woman in your life who seemingly has already tried every cream, serum, and beauty device? Even more frustrating, what do you get that woman when that woman is YOU!? 🙂
Well, I’ve decided to compile a list of a few of the items that I have been in love with lately, and that I wish someone would get me (more of) for Christmas. These are items that I feel like I haven’t heard anyone ranting and raving about, but they definitely deserve the fanfare.
Consider this the:
Slept-On Beauty Buys to Try NOW!
This may be a bit controversial. Some feel that this tool is actually dangerous in our non-professional hands. Others feel that it isn’t a true microdermabrasion treatment, as in a professional level with professional results. While I actually agree with both statements, I must also say that the PMD has changed my skin for the better. You can ABSOLUTELY damage your skin with this device (so be careful!). It is also not a professional machine, so to expect professional grade results is unfair. Those things considered, it is definitely the next best thing. I’ve been using mine for a while now, and my skin is clearer, my dark spots are fading, my pores are less clogged, and my skin is less textured.
When used properly, the PMD is an exfoliation game changer. My skin care routine has been supercharged since getting my PMD. A full review is coming, but this one item the beauty enthusiast in you (or your life) would love to try!
Urban Skin Rx Clear Complexion Acne Serum + Spot Treatment
This beauty find is perfect for anyone that has truly stubborn breakouts and/or hyperpigmentation, and find that some of the other acne-targeting ingredients just aren’t cutting it. The Urban Skin Advanced Acne Serum is a bit misleading in naming (in my opinion), because I don’t know that I would call or use this like I would a serum. That being said, it does exactly what it claims to do! This product is one that I haven’t heard much fanfare about, but I think that it absolutely deserves some and has become a staple in my skin care routine.
This “serum” contains benzoyl peroxide, which is a common acne treatment. Benzoyl peroxide can sometimes be a bit intense for those with more sensitive skin. I would recommend using it as a spot treatment in that case. I however like to use it over my entire face to both treat and prevent breakouts. The Urban Rx Advanced Acne Serum also contains glycolic acid, which is an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) known for being a great exfoliant, and kojic acid which gets its notoriety for lightening dark spots and scars. T
I know… I’m mentioning the Origins Night-A-Mins cream again. I’ve mentioned this night cream in several blog posts. However, let this blog be a testament to how much I truly love it. The Origins Night-A-Mins is made with fruit derived AHAs that help to renew and resurface your skin. This product has truly changed my skin for the better. I wake up in the morning glowing when I use this cream. It’s the best moisturizer/chemical peel 2-in-1 hands down!
The Beetles Gel Polish Kit is a recent purchase (I’ve only been using this system for about 2 months) but I don’t regret it one bit! I raved about how clutch my last gel polish kit was in a recent post. So when it clunked out on me and I absolutely needed to do my nails, I ran to my Knight in shining armor: Amazon. I knew that I would have it in 2 days (this new world has made me inpatient!) and that was exactly what I needed.
I got a full kit with an LED lamp, a nail clipper, a cuticle pusher, trimmer, dusting brush, 2 nail files, toe separators, nail cleaning brush, cuticle oil, 6 color gel nail polishes, a base coat, top coat, and a matte top coat all for $38! This is a great kit for anyone who needs something ASAP (like I did) or who is just starting to learn to do their nails at home and don’t want to spend a lot of money. From my current short term use, This nail polish lasts about 2 weeks before I get a minor chip or 2. However, I honestly think that I could get 3-4 weeks wear if I would do my nails correctly and not always in such a rush.
Derma-e Vitamin C Hydro Gel Patches
I had been on the market for a gel eye patch for a while. I couldn’t figure out why I wanted one outside of the fact that I wanted those spa feels on my pamper days. Fast forward, I started a new job and now regularly have 6am (and sometimes 5am!) meetings and 12 hour workdays. Now, I NEED a gel eye patch that actually works! I was lucky that with my first buy, I found something that fit my needs.
The Derma-e Vitamin C Hydro Gel Patches contain vitamins C and B3 to help brighten the undereye, aloe and allantoin to soothe, and caffeine to depuff. It also comes with a spatula to help with getting the patches out. Also, did I mention that it comes with 60 gel patches! When I was looking for gel patches, I noticed a lot of brands didn’t come with many patches. So the Derma-e Vitamin C Hydro Gel Patches coming with 60 was an amazing value.
CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion
CeraVe, as a brand, has definitely been having a moment. It’s been around for quite some time, but as of late it has become all the rave with it being both effective and affordable. I had tried out a few CeraVe products in college, but I can’t fully remember whether I liked them or not. I was on the hunt for a relatively basic facial moisturizer (since the rest of my routine is chock-full of active ingredients) and I stumbled this at Ulta.
The CeraVe Daily Moisturizing lotion contains 3 different ceramides and the cult fave ingredient, hyalauronic acid, to help restore the skins moisture and protect the skin barrier (which if you’ve read my last post, you know I’ve damaged and recovered from). This moisturizer is pretty no frills, in that it doesn’t have any crazy, trendy ingredients. However, it does exactly what it claims to do in providing deep moisture and repairing the skin. As someone who’s pretty heavy with active ingredients with all of my other products, this moisturizer was the perfect addition. I also noticed after I purchased this moisturizer that it is actually meant to be used on your body as well. Another 2 for 1 score!
Conclusion
Have you tried out any of these products!? What will you be getting your Beauty Babe for Christmas?
