It is really easy to get wrapped up in everyone else, and forget about doing something for yourself. I am guilty of doing this more often than what is deemed healthy.
We often talk about “self-love”, “self-care”, “pamper days” and taking a day to yourself to recharge and take some time for yourself. While this is awesome, we shouldn’t be waiting on this one particular day to do something that makes us feel like the feminine and divine beings that we are.
Here are 6 things that I do every day (or as often as possible) to maintain my feminine charm:
1.Get dressed up
A lot of us have gone from fashionista to just wanting to look “presentable”. We neglect the fact that when you look good, you feel good, and instead opt to wear sweats, a week old bun, and a hoodie because “I’m only going to the grocery store”. Before life grabbed us by the balls and refused to let go, we wouldn’t be caught dead in that outfit… let alone wearing some fashion of it every.damn.day.
I’ll admit, I am extremely guilty of doing this. Because I often work from home, it is super easy to wake up, do my morning routine, and literally put back on pajamas. I found that my vibes rise immensely when I just take the time to put on an outfit I feel good in, moisturize that week old bun, and put on a bit of make up.
2.Have a girls day out
These days… (I’m letting God handle all things above me.. LOL jk I just couldn’t help myself ) It is super easy to let family and work stop us from connecting with the other divine women in our sister circles to just have a giddy girly pow wow. We keep pushing things off, pushing that Saturday lunch back until one day we look up and we realize that we haven’t seen our friends in months. It is especially easy to do if those friends are just as busy with life as you are.
We have to remember to take some time out at least once a month to find time to just release and have fun with our girlfriends. To share in that feminine energy, and keep one another sane, stable, and aligned. If you are like me, sometimes you realize that the only people that you’ve talked to outside of work are your little people… And while we love them, we need adult conversations and preferably over adult beverages.
3.Get a mani-pedi
A third simple way to recharge your feminine energy is to be pampered. While I love a good DIY, this mani-pedi session should be done for you, not by you. The point of using a mani-pedi to recharge your feminine energy is the fact that you are being tended to, and pampered.
I am all about keeping our toes prim and proper, but this is less about the actual service being provided, and more focus should be put on the experience. Make sure that you are actually enjoying this mani-pedi, not just going because your dogs are barking. We spend a great deal of our time pampering others and now it is our turn! Get the deluxe pedicure for the full pampering experience, accept the complimentary glass of wine this time, and (even better) bring your home girl with you for a 2 for 1 recharge day!
4.Get a new perfume
Buying yourself something new is always a good way to treat yourself, but buying yourself a new scent will definitely level up your femininity. If looking good is the cake, smelling good is the buttercream frosting.
A new scent will remind you of just how beautiful, sexy, awesome, and badass you are every time you get a whiff of yourself. I personally prefer the scented oils that I purchase at my local Moroccan store, or one of my DIYs with essential oils. Either way, I like to make sure that I am blessing noses every day, all day (including my own).
5.Purchase a “girly” Everyday Item
Sometimes we just need those small reminders that we are the best thing since sliced bread. You can do this several different ways such as an affirmations book, journaling, or mantras. Another thing that I like to do is I think of something I use every day, and get the most feminine version of it.
Whether it’s a pen, a coffee mug, or a journal, just pick something that you would use often, and get the version of it that will invoke a positive feeling in you. And, don’t get it confused, I used the term “girly” because it evokes a universal understanding of femininity. But ultimately, this should just be something that makes you feel good. It should be something that you can use daily that brings you joy and reminds you of your femininity, it doesn’t necessarily have to be pink and frilly.
So, how do you like to recharge your feminine energy?
